El Chorro and Caminito del Rey: Popular Filming Locations

El Chorro and the Caminito del Rey are popular filming locations for movies, TV shows, and music videos thanks to their dramatic scenery and picturesque landscapes.

One notable production filmed in El Chorro is The Bridge, a Swedish-Danish crime series that aired from 2011 to 2018. Known for its gripping storylines and striking visuals, the series used El Chorro’s rugged terrain as the perfect backdrop for many intense scenes.

The Caminito del Rey has also featured in several productions over the years. A memorable example is the British sci-fi series Doctor Who, which filmed an episode in this stunning location. The area’s rocky cliffs and scenic vistas provided the setting for some of the episode’s most unforgettable moments.

El Chorro was also a location for the 2016 film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, based on the popular video game franchise. Quite frankly, the helicopter in this video transporting materials for the restoration is very, very close to the wall of the mountain. The pilot is  daring indeed. The faces on some of the politicians “inspecting” the work are pictures of fear. :)… Take a look at the video and you get an idea of what it must have been like over 100 years ago constructing this aerial walkway without the use of helicopters and other modern technology….
