The three Reservoirs known as Guadalhorce – Guadalteba are nestled in a stunning area of outstanding beauty close to El Chorro and the Caminito del Rey and within the boundaries of the Natural Park area called “Desfiladero de los Gaitanes“.
Meson del Conde (Posada del Conde)
Probably my favorite place to eat in the area of El Chorro, the Camino del Rey and Guadalhorce reservoirs, the Meson del Conde is situated just a hundred metres from the Dam of the Guadalhorce reservoir. There is ample parking and the service and quality of food is exceptional.
Restaurante el Kiosko
Situated right on the banks of the Conde de Guadalhorce reservoir and just a few kilometers from El Chorro, this once tiny bar (kiosko) serving drinks in the 1950’s is now an enormous bar restaurant with a capacity for over 400 people eating at the same time.
This bar restaurant is also an important navigation point as it is right next to the tunnel leading to the entry point for the Caminito del Rey
There are fantastic views of the surrounding scenery and just opposite access down to the lake. you are only a a five minute walk taking you to the reservoir dam and past the kings chair cut from Stone.
The Dolmens of Antequera
The dolmens of Antequera are a group of three megalithic structures located near the town of Antequera in the province of Malaga, Spain. The dolmens, which date back to the Neolithic period, were constructed between 3000 and 2500 BC and were used for burial purposes.
Getting to El Chorro (and the Caminito del Rey) by train.
Getting to El Chorro by train is a convenient and affordable option, especially for those staying in the bustling city of Malaga. By booking tickets for the Caminito del Rey that coincide with the train timetables to El Chorro, visitors can easily access this breathtaking natural wonder and experience the thrill of walking along one of the most spectacular trails in the world.
