The Caminito del Rey is one of Spain’s most dramatic cliffside walks, but when you visit can make a big difference to the experience. Conditions in the gorge vary considerably through the year, from hot summer days to much cooler winter weather, while rain and strong winds can sometimes affect the operation of the walkway.
For the most comfortable walking conditions, spring and autumn are generally the best times to visit, although winter can also be excellent when the weather is settled. Summer visits are possible, but the heat needs to be taken seriously, particularly on exposed sections of the route.
